WE ARE PROUD TO BE STRONG!

Results Ramon Gysin, BW 101.8kg/-110kg:

Backsquat: 275kg (Swiss Record)
Bench Press: 160kg
Deadlift: 295kg (Swiss Record, personal life time best)
(Unofficial total: 730kg)

HEADCOACH RAMON GYSIN: „Very unexpected, this was my second best competition in Powerlifting/Single Lift EVER. I will not compete international in Single Lift this year due to having further education scheduled at the same dates. Today was more like a test day for the upcoming bigger competitions in two (Strongman) and three (European Championship in Powerlifting) weeks. 275kg Back Squat is my 4th best Squat ever and for the first time I got 295kg in the Deadlift.
Taking away best lifter trophies in Squat and Deadlift was the big goal for today. The race was very tight and I am glad I made it. I had a good friendly fight with Daniel Velarde in the Squat and Dario Dorizzi in the Deadlift, being separated only by merely one point in each movement. They definitely helped me to achieve these big lifts today, thanks for the motivation and challenge!“

What is Powerlifting?

You can also compete in Single Lift Competitions where you choose to compete in one, two, or all three lifts, but get ranked separately in each lift.

There are raw competitions where only a belt is allowed and there are equipped competitions (single ply => one layer of suits/equipment and multi ply => several layers of equipment) where athletes wear assistant suits, briefs and knee wraps to be able to lift much more weight.

Team CrossFit Basel is competing raw.

What is the WDFPF?

The World Drug Free Powerlifting Federation was established to give drug free lifters a home as in most strength sports there is no or little drug testing. In fact there is no other sports federation (including ALL olympic sports!) in the world today that knows such severe punishment like the WDFPF. If an athlete is tested positive he or she will be banned FOR LIFE and all past results will be erased.

The WDFPF is also an inclusive federation, all athletes, no matter what age, are competing at the same venue at the same competition together, ranked in their respective weight and age classes.

Swiss Powerlifting Championship (SDFPF) Lausanne

Past Weekend was Competition time again!!

17 athletes travelled to Lausanne to compete in Powerlifting! The Swiss Drug Free Powerlifting Federation (part of WDFPF) hosted their annual Swiss Championships. After a long day, all were tired but happy – we hit a bunch of PR’s and placed great results!!

What is Powerlifting? Every athlete has three attempts in the following three exercises (Powerlifts). There is a ranking for the total of all three (Powerlifting, the best lifts count towards the total) and there is a ranking for the single lifts.

Our coach Nora Jäggi ranked as best athlete over all weight classes in total according to body weight adjusted points just like in the Single Lifts Bench Press and Deadlift. Bao Luu took best lifter in the Backsquat.

Headcoach Ramon Gysin also came in as best athlete in all weight classes in total plus in Single Lift Back Squat.

All in all, the team of CrossFit Basel won 12 gold medals in Powerlifting plus 29 gold medals in the Single Lifts!

Furthermore, we broke 35 Swiss records. Therewith, CrossFit Basel is by far the best team in Switzerland!

Overall, this competition registers a record of participants with 63 competing athletes. Check out the article in the Basellandschaftliche Zeitung about our great performance!

Here’s Nora with an amazing lift of 190kg Deadlift.

Athletes Bao-Uyen Luu and Katrin Luethy managed to top their Personal Records in Back Squat and Bench Press!

Coach Lukas Büel benched more than 1.5x of his own bodyweight with 100kg!

And last but not least Headcoach Ramon Gysin showed everyone off in his supreme discipline, Back Squat with 260kg.
